Weekend Chamber Music Retreat for Amateur Musicians

The retreat brings together amateur musicians to work with world-class professionals who serve as their coaches and mentors.

Participants will study the great chamber music repertoire with fellow enthusiasts in a beautiful natural environment.

The retreat is at Music Mountain in Lakeville, CT (2 1/2 hours from in Lakeville, CT (2 1/2 hours from New York City). Celebrating its 81st season in 2010, Music Mountain and its marvelous setting is justly famed. The centerpiece is Gordon Hall - which provides resonant and lovely sound, views of the gardens, grounds and hills from every seat or from the lawn, permitting listeners to savor music and nature as one.

Program Highlights:

  • Coachings with the Cassatt Quartet
  • Concert by the Cassatt Quartet with a guest artist TBA

Individual players of violin, viola, and cello. Pre-formed string ensembles are eligible and strongly encouraged to apply. Ensembles that include string and wind players are eligible as well. Applicants will be considered in the order in which they applied with priority given to preformed groups.

Enrollment is limited to 20 participants to ensure personal attention.

Arrival time on Friday is 7:00 pm. Departure after the Cassatt concert on Sunday (starts 3:00 pm).

Fees:

$50 application fee (non-refundable)

$315 includes coaching, master classes, a public concert by the Cassatt Quartet with a quest artist and all meals including lunch and dinner catered by KitchenAtsuko.

Double room accommodations is $75
Single room accommodations is $150

For those wishing to stay off site, we recommend the Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville ($125/night --reservations must be made separately from the retreat)

Saturday Jazz concert $20 (optional)

Ticket for the Cassatt concert included with tuition.
